Virginia Tech alumni launch new corporate network at CoStar Group
Aug. 5, 2025
More than 70 Virginia Tech alumni gathered at CoStar Group’s Richmond office to celebrate the launch of the company’s new Alumni Corporate Network. Attendees from research, sales, technology, and other departments enjoyed an evening of connection, conversation, and Hokie spirit. This marks Virginia Tech’s 15th Alumni Corporate Network, part of an ongoing effort to unite alumni within their workplaces for networking, professional development, and community-building.

Boeing Hokies // Career Panel Discussion
To celebrate the launch of Boeing’s expanded intern mentoring program, the chapter united alumni, new hires, and Virginia Tech summer interns across the enterprise for a panel discussion focused on career growth, mentorship, and tips for thriving at Boeing.
Capital One Hokies // Networking Lunches
Alumni attended networking lunches at Capital One’s West Creek and McLean offices to meet new faces, explore the company’s network chapter, and make suggestions for future engagements.
GM Hokie Network // Professional Development Speaker Series
Virginia Tech’s Carol A. Mullen delivered an engaging exploration of on-the-job coaching and effective feedback strategies to kick off the chapter’s new speaker series, designed to leverage Virginia Tech expertise toward career growth at GM.
Capital One Hokies // Graduate Student Visit
Capital One associates shared their career journeys with 25 computer science master’s students from Virginia Tech during a guided tour of the company’s home office in McLean.
Northrop Grumman // Cybersecurity Expert Talk
In celebration of Cyber Awareness Month, Eric Burger of the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative shared insights on cutting-edge research in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.
GM Hokie Network // Autonomy Expert Talk
Kevin Kefauver of the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute shared what's driving the future of automated driving systems. He discussed innovative work in cross-referencing physical data with these simulations, an area of interest to alumni working with GM’s virtual validating efforts.
Google // Chapter Launch Party
Google officially launched its Virginia Tech Alumni Corporate Network with a hybrid celebration connecting alumni across the United States. Attendees heard updates from Virginia Tech leaders while engaging in conversations led by senior alumni leaders at Google.
Freddie Mac Hokies // Bingo Networking Event
Alumni grew their professional network and earned exclusive swag by matching colleagues to Virginia Tech experiences in hopes of scoring five in a row.
Newport News Shipbuilding // Football Networking Event
Newport News Shipbuilding kicked off the football rivalry between Virginia Tech and Old Dominion University with a lively alumni networking event at Coastal Fermentory. Professionals from both schools came together to reconnect, share ideas, and expand their networks in a relaxed setting.
